Why Is the Bible True?
Why Is the Bible True?
The Bible is true because it is the very Word of God. Every word was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, making Scripture completely trustworthy, without error, and authoritative in all it affirms (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20–21). God’s Word does not change and stands as the ultimate standard of truth (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; John 10:35; 16:12-13; 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

We can be confident in the Bible’s truthfulness because…
- Fulfilled Prophecy: Scripture contains numerous prophecies that have been fulfilled with precision, such as the suffering and atonement of Christ foretold in Isaiah 53.
- Historical Reliability: Archaeological discoveries consistently affirm the historical accuracy of biblical events and places, demonstrating the Bible’s reliability as a historical record.
- Doctrinal Consistency: Written over 1,500 years by multiple human authors, the Bible presents a unified message of God’s redemptive plan, reflecting divine authorship rather than human invention.
- Transforming Power: Throughout history, God has used His Word to convict, save, and sanctify sinners. The Bible alone reveals the way of salvation and continues to change lives by the work of the Holy Spirit (Romans 1:16; Hebrews 4:12).
Though the world may question or reject it, Scripture judges the hearts of men—never the other way around. Its truth is self-authenticating, illuminated by the Spirit of God in the hearts of those who believe.
