Sean and Jessica serve in Manila, Philippines, where they have been doing ministry since 2004. As the Asia Regional Shepherd for GMI, Sean leads our team in the Philippines while also shepherding our other GMI families in Asia.

Sean Ransom – Missionary to the Philippines

Together, they teach classes at The Expositor’s Academy (part of The Master’s Academy International). Sean teaches classes in both the Preaching Program and the Biblical Studies Program, while Jessica teaches classes for women on Biblical Counseling.

Goals:

To train nationals to teach God’s Word throughout the Philippines and other nations. Over eleven million Filipinos are working OUTSIDE of the Philippines, many in countries where American missionaries are not allowed to go. Sean and Jessica’s prayer is to spread God’s fame in the Philippines and in other nations through graduates of The Expositor’s Academy.

The Expositor’s Academy

Sean teaches weekly classes in Metro Manila as well as holding training modules throughout the country. Classes range from how to interpret the Bible (Hermeneutics) to preaching (Communicating Biblical Messages) to surveys of the Old and New Testaments.

Ministry Update, September 2026

Ongoing Ministry

  •  This past January to July 2026 the Ransoms were on furlough visiting family, friends and supporting Churches in the US and Canada.
  • They enjoyed precious days with family, including their daughter Grace, son-in-law Garrett, and newest grandson, Chet.
  • During furlough, Sean attended the Shepherds’ and TMAI conferences and as a family they were able to attend the GMI Missions Conference.
  • In the future, they plan to take shorter but more frequent furloughs. Returning to the U.S. more frequently will allow them to see their aging parents every couple of years, Lord willing.
  • After arriving home they have jumped back into a new semester with the Expositor’s Academy. They also anticipate traveling to several countries throughout Southeast Asia for Sean’s ongoing role as Asia Regional Shepherd for TMAI.

Praise & Prayer

Please pray for:

  • Praise God for a great furlough and getting us home safely.
  • Pray for the preparations of our new home and a smooth move in the coming weeks.
  • Pray for us to get back into a rhythm and to settle back into life in the Philippines.
  • Pray for Jessica’s father who is in hospital again fighting an infection. He is getting weak and his kidneys are not doing well.
  • Pray for the four men that I am mentoring through their M.Div Studies.
  • Pray for our daughter Isabella’s 2 nd year at University in South Korea and for our son Tyler’s last semester at The Master’s University.
  • Pray for the salvation of our son Kian and his wife Jean, Sean’s brother and his wife Hershey, Jessica’s family, and our friends Steve and David.
  • Continue to pray for the financial support of Hanook and his family as he studies online with the Master’s Seminary while living in the Philippines.

Prayer Requests Personally asked for:

  • Pray for Frances De Jesus, a national graduate, as he teaches for the first time at the Expositer’s Academy.
  • Pray for the Ransom’s as they have lots of upcoming travels planned as Asia Regional Shepherd for TMAI. Please pray for wisdom and discernment to be good counselors and for good listeners to receive counsel.
  • Pray for the Ransom’s as they consider how much time they have left to serve the Lord. They have asked for prayer for wisdom to use this time wisely.
  • Pray for the Ransom’s son Christian and his wife Kaila who are seeking wisdom from the Lord as to where to raise their children long term.
  • Pray for Isabella, who requested prayer that she might find a job during her schooling in Korea and/or receive scholarships.
